robin's-plantain, Erigeron pulchellus

Robin's-plantain because it blooms when the robins return? Probably, even though we've been seeing robins for some time, and these flowers are only now blooming. They are earlier than their fleabane relatives in the east. The flower heads are also larger, about an inch across. Robin's-plantain can be seen, mostly in open woods, in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, ON, and QC. Lenawee Co MI, 5/8/12.
