starflower, Trientalis borealis

The starflowers are out. The other day at Waterloo these were scattered among the lady-slippers. These always catch the eye in late spring woods, even is they are only a half-inch across on plants about five inches high. They grow in CA, CT, DE, GA(E), ID, IL(T), IN, KY(E), MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, TN(T), VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, every province except NT and NU, and on SPM.
