Coatbuttons! Eeeekk!! This little plant, originally from Central America, is a federally listed noxious weed. Coatbuttons get about a foot tall, with flower heads hardly a half inch across. It is only known from tropical areas. It is listed as a class A noxious weed by AL, NC, and VT, a prohibited noxious weed by MN, a noxious weed in FL, quarantined by CA and OR, prohibited by MA, and is a plant pest in SC. So far they have been been found in FL, HI, and TX. Way to get ahead of the problem, guys! Polk Co FL, 3/19/16.
