diamondleaf fogfruit, Phyla fruticosa
One of our faithful correspondents lives and serves in Nicaragua. So this one's for Kitty. Diamondleaf fogruit is native there, in South America, Central America, Mexico, and now has arrived in FL, LA, NM, and TX. The name fogfruit first appears in the early 1800's. Frogfruit pops up about a century later. One source suggests it was a typo. It caught on and is now often seen, adding a little fun confusion. Everglades National Park, 3/21/16.
