mound lily, Yucca gloriosa
Mound lily is one of many common names for this Yucca. Many of the others involve references to the stiff pointed leaves, like needles, bayonets or swords. Like other Yuccas, the flowers open wider and become fragrant at night. This is one of the larger species, often cultivated, and now escaping to the wild in other parts of the tropical and subtropical world. It is native to our southeast, in AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, and SC. WakullaCo FL, 7/8/18.
