wild teasel, Dipsacus fullonum

One of the plant kingdoms fierce creatures? Teasels are certainly spiny, and are most appreciated for those spines. The dry heads were used for raising nap on wool and sometimes other fabrics. These days they are more appreciated in dry flower arrangements. Thank you Mrs. Kackstetter for teaching my daughter how to do that. As you see, teasels also reward a close look at flower time. This introduction is known from every state except AK, FL, GA, HI, LA, ME, MN, ND, and SC, and from BC, ON, and QC. Lenawee Co MI, 8/8/13.
