Utah sweetvetch, Hedysarum boreale

Utah? This plant ranges from the Arctic islands of Canada almost to our southern border. Why does Utah get to claim it? Certainly, the plants on Baffin Island won't look like ones from Arizona. This one in Colorado was a couple of feet tall. I imagine up north they're very much smaller with many fewer flowers. I'll admit I'm not going to check it out. Sweetvetch is known for the variety of forms it adopts in different habitats. It makes a good plant for dry gardens, and for roadside rehab. Utah sweetvetch grows in AK, AZ, CA, CO, MT, ND, NM, NV, OK, OR, SD, TX, UT, WA, WY, AB, BC, NB, NF, NT, NU, ON, QC, SK, and YT. San Juan Co CO, 6/22/13. Bean family, Fabaceae.
