Navajo tea, Thelesperma subnudum

In another part of the west, this would be Hopi tea. This shot is not a good one. Nevertheless, I like it. Maybe because that other creature wasn't having much more luck managing the wind than I was. This flower on a long thin stem was waving around like mad. Navajo tea is indeed a tea. It has been favorably compared to traditional tea. There is a fledgling commercial attempt to grow it and/or other species in southwest Colorado. In another part of the west this would be Hopi tea. It grows in AZ, CO, MT, ND, NM, NV, UT, WY, and AB. Great Sand Dunes National Park, Saguache Co CO, 6/24/13. Aster family, Asteraceae.
