claspleaf pennycress, Microthlaspi perfoliatum

This little Eurasian weed seemed to share a preference for habitat with Walter's violet. It was growing in patches in the same thin soil over rock. It also shows up in depleted or disturbed sites where it has reduced competition. It's a relatively new arrival. It was not reported from Michigan until 2016. Claspleaf pennycress has so far been reported from AR, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, TN, VA, WA, WV, ON, and QC. Adams Co OH, 4/20/20. Mustard family, Brassicaceae.
