blue giant hyssop, Agastache foeniculum

Blue giant hyssop is no Goliath. Other species in our area may be head high or more. This one is probably only chest high. But they're all taller than garden hyssop, so I guess the name is earned. Indians, particularly the plains nations, used this as a flavoring and for a variety of medical needs. Blue giant hyssop grows in open areas in CO, CT, DE, IA(E), IL, KY, MI, MN, MT, ND, NE, NH, NY, PA, SD, WA, WI, WY, AB, BC, MB, NT, ON. QC, and SK. Ramsey Co MN, 7/8/11. Mint family, Lamiaceae.
