Canadian St. John's-wort, Hypericum canadense

Canadian St. John's-wort is a small thing, flowers hardly a quarter inch across on plants hardly a foot tall. It likes well drained soil in areas that otherwise have a lot of moisture. Places like Sibley Prairie in Wayne County. That area of preserves and adjacent interesting land is just south of Detroit Metro Airport. It's an interesting place with interesting plants that I spent several hours in yesterday. Really didn't expect to get so lost in a county of 1.7 million people! Anyway, we will be visiting with Sibley flowers for the next few days. Canadian St. John's grows in AL, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH(E), OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, QC, and on SPM. St. John's-wort family, Hypericaceae.
