stiff yellow flax, Linum medium

We've previously looked at blue and red flax, none of which were native. Here's a native yellow flax. There are a number of species, all with yellow flowers in southern Michigan. Stiff yellow stands a couple feet tall, with numerous flowers about a half inch across. Beyond Sibley Prairie it grows in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, MS, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, and ON. Wayne Co OH, 8/8/14.
