conobea, Leucospora multifida

Conobea was formerly in the genus Conobea. Hence that common name. Now we find Wiki may have a sense of humor. The first common name mentioned there is - wait for it! - Obi-Wan conobea. Absolutely perfect! But conobea may not be much with the force. This annual begins blooming when it's hardly an inch tall, and never exceeds about eight inches. No wonder it wasn't spotted in Michigan until 1991. The flowers are tiny, so small that I couldn't see I was photographing a spent one that was loose and out of the calyx. Obi-Wan grows in sand or loam in areas that are at least seasonally wet in AL, AR, FL, GA, IA(E), IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI(S), MO, MS, NC, NE, NJ, NY(E), OH, OK, PA, TN, TX, VA, and ON. Wayne Co MI, 7/25/20. Plantain family, Plantaginaceae.
