Gold Coast jasmine, Jasminum dichotomum

Jasmine! Those beautiful, fragrant, exotic flowers! So hard to resist. But should we? This west African immigrant is a twining vine that is becoming invasive in Florida. Just picture it snaking around tree on everglades hammocks, with pythons lying in wait. Is it becoming less seductive yet? All that said, it was hard to be sorry to see, sniff, and click away there on that Florida roadside. Won't have that exotic chance in Michigan! With us, Gold Coast jasmine only occurs in Florida. Lake Co FL, 10/20/15. Olive family, Oleaceae.
