arrowleaf violet, Viola sagittata

It's those small lobes at the leaf base that make arrowleaf violet most distinctive. But it also seems to have the most consistently intense color among the blue violets. It shows off in fields or partial shade in AL, AR, CT, DE, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI(E), WV, NB, NS, ON, PE, and QC(L).
