baby's breath, Gypsophila paniculata

My grandson went through a spell where he really didn't like butterflies. He saw a cartoon where they turned out to have big sharp fangs and nasty dispositions. Baby's breath, that sweet innocence from your flower arrangement, turns out to be kind of like that. It might really spoil your favorite beach. Particularly if you're a piping plover. That shore bird is endangered in part because of baby's breath invasions. Baby's breath has been reported from CA, CO, CT, FL, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, MA, ME, MI, MN, MT, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SD, UT, VT, WA, WI, WY, AB, BC, MB, NB< NT, ON, QC, and SK. Lenawee Co MI, 6/29/13. Pink family, Caryophyllaceae.
