whitestem gooseberry, Ribes inerme
Whitestem gooseberry is a shrub up to three meters high. The fruit are edible, with a tart taste. Many native tribes used the berries, including the Apache, Keres, Navajo, Pueblo, and Thompson. Whitestem grows in AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA, AB, and BC. Summit Co CO, 6/17/13. Gooseberry family, Grossulariaceae.
