quickweed, Galinsoga quadriradiata
Ever notice these tiny daisies in your garden? Little annuals with heads only about an eighth of an inch across? They're kind of pretty, and kind of like playing whack-a-mole without boundaries. First they popped up in Mexico. Then here. Then everywhere. Maybe the alternate name of gallant soldiers does fit. They don't really do much harm, if you're not compulsive about weeds. And they can be eaten, even if there's good reason most of us don't know that. So far they've popped up in every state and province except AK, AZ, ID, MS, NM, NV, TX, UT, LB, NY, NU, and YT. Lenawee Co MI, 6/22/11. Aster family, Asteraceae.
