desert bells, Phacelia campanularia
I remembered desert bells as a shot I took in my garden. And felt that if I was a better gardener I would be a better photographer. Then I looked it up and its not my garden. Just an early overcast morning at MSU, following a rain, with an unenthusiastic plant. But you take what you can get when you know you won't get to the California deserts any time soon. Desert bells are native to the Sonoran and Mohave deserts. Gardeners have spread them to other areas. They have now been seen wild in AZ, CA, NY, AB, MB, and NT (seems like a strange spread). Beal Gardens, MSU, 5/31/18. Borage family, Boraginaceae.
