turkey-tangle fog-fruit, Phyla nodiflora

Sometimes just called turkey-tangle or fog-fruit, but how can we resist the fun of both. Can you picture coming up with a name for this dense mat of flowers? How about rabbit-tangle? Mouse? No turley! The alliteration! Same for fog-fruit. But that could have been frog-fruit? Oh, wait, sometimes it is. Turkey-tangle frog-fruit. Then we get Phyla nodiflora. What a buzz kill. These trailing plants with half-inch flower heads are effective ground cover, and are sometimes used for lawns. Native from our south to northern South America, turkeys get tangled in AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, HI, KS, KY, LA, MD, MS, MO, NC, NJ, NM, NV, OK, OR, PA, SC, TX, UT, and VA.
