I've mentioned how many more blazing-stars there are as one travels south and west from Michigan. It's also true how many you can see as blazing-stars travel north and east from their homes. This prairie blazing-star was found in our Irish Hills, where it persisted not far from an old tourist trap. Fun to see. That particular spot trapped my Dad and family on his first trip out of Ohio, probably around 1930. Now here I was trapped all over again, but maybe by a different feature. Wonder if this was growing there all those years ago. Could be. I've seen it there since the 1970s. Prairie blazing-star has been seen in AR, IA, IL, IN(T), KS, KY, LA, MA, MI, MN, MO, ND, NE, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, SD, TX, and WY. Lenawee Co MI, 7/30/10. Aster family, Asteraceae.
