dyer's greenweed, Genista tinctoria

Dyer's greenweed has produced yellow dye for us since antiquity. So greenweed? If it is used in combination with woad, it produces a very good green. Now that we 'live better by chemistry you will see greenweed more in flower gardens, or occasionally grown for herbal medical uses. Of course now that we live on the net, you can just drop a dime there and get the meds. Dyer's greenweed has been reported from CT, MA, MD, ME, MI, MS, NJ, NY, OH, RI, VA, VT, WA, WI, NS, ON, and QC. Beal Gardens, MSU, 6/30/15. Bean family, Fabaceae.
