Elliott's fanpetals, Sida elliottii

Elliott's pretty fanpetals in the wastebasket? Well yes, along with the rest of what we call Sida. Turns out Sida is a wastebasket genus. If a plant doesn't fit somewhere else in the mallow family, call it Sida! There's a group of yellow flowered plants in Sida that clearly ought to be together. Then there are plants like Virginia mallow, a very large white-flowered herb, that could make you wonder. Hopefully the gene analyzers will soon have this sorted out. Elliott's fanpetals grows in AL, AR, FL, GA, IL, KY, LA, MO, MS, NC, SC, TN, TX, and VA. Wakulla Co FL, 7/8/18. Mallow family, Malvaceae.
