twig-rush, Cladium mariscoides

Twig-rush or smooth sawgrass is neither a rush or a grass. It's a sedge. These plants grow in damp areas, mostly along shores. It can be up to a meter tall. It is one of the many plants that guard our wetlands and our water. So stop and pay it a moment's respect, or maybe even venture into a fen and say hello.
