scorpion ticktrefoil, Desmodium scorpiurus

Also called Samoan clover, or other names in other languages. Scorpion ticktrefoil may not deserve to be named for those nasty bugs, either scorpions or ticks. Sure, the ride-along seeds are annoying, but this is a very useful plant. It is grown as a forage crop in tropical areas around the world, particularly in Australia. In Africa, it's used medically as an anti-inflamatory and antibiotic. Scorpion ticktrefoil started in the American tropics, and has now hitched its way to FL. Polk Co FL, 3/17/16. Bean family, Fabaceae.
