Mississippi River wakerobin, Trillium foetidissimum
Mississippi River wakerobin occurs only along the river in southwestern Mississippi and adjacent Louisiana. It is much like Trillium sessile, but more dramatic. The bracts are darker, and it is a stinker. It's sometimes called stinking wakerobin, and it may very well be the most fetid of trilliums. There are also subtle differences in the stamens that help separate this from T. sessile.
