Is this wall-lettuce? One often cited characteristic is the five florets in each head. That's so clearly not true here. But the rest of the plant looked just like the other soldiers in that invading army. And the plant fit the description in every other regard. So yes, I will call this wall-lettuce. Wall-lettuce is enough like lettuce that it was formerly included in the lettuce genus, Lactuca. But you will be very desperate before you eat this bitter plant. Wall-lettuce is another European immigrant that has become a noxious problem in northern climes, growing in woods in AK, ID, MA, ME, MI, MN, NH, NY, OR, VT, WA, BC, ON, and QC. Alger Co MI, 7/14/14.
