Tuolumne troutlily, Erythronium tuolomnense
Tuolumne troutlily or dog-tooth-violet is globally imperiled in the wild. But it is the gardener's tiger. This bulbous perennial is not hard to grow, and has become popular as a spring bloom in shaded gardens. Like the tigers in zoos, it is not hard to imagine it only living in captivity in a more dystopian future. Hopefully the people of Tuolumne County, California will take care with it and keep the hunters away. Tuolumne troutlily is only known wild from a few locations in that county. Edgewood Garden, Chester Co PA, 4/21/21. Lily family, Liliaceae.
