zigzag spiderwort, Tradescantia subaspera

Zigzag spiderwort often has stems that zig and zag at the nodes, but not always. Other features that make it a little different are wider leaves at the top, and slightly paler and smaller flowers. One of the most common features of medicinal plants is easy identification. Spiderworts have been used by Indians, but rather indiscriminately within the genus. Zigzag spiderwort grows in openings and borders of woods, often in slightly damp sots, in AL, AR, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MO, MS, NC, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, VA, and WV. Fayette Co KY, 7/15/15. Dayflower family, Commelinaceae.
