littlebell, Ipomoea triloba

Littlebell is just what it looks like, a morning-glory. But this one is only an inch long. Littlebells come in the usual morning-glory range of colors from white to what you see here. Originally native around the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico, its now weedy around the world, and particularly in the tropics. In southeast Asia it is used in a headache remedy, in west Africa to treat stomach aches. People in Benin have used the leaves as a green vegetable. With us it has been reported from CA, FL, and HI. Taylor Co FL, 8/8/18. Bindweed family, Convolvulaceae.
