sagebrush bluebells, Mertensia oblongifolia

"Stir fries, sandwiches, salads and even omelets!" Wildutahedibles says sagebrush bluebells is one of their favorites, and the entire plant is edible. I know this one from high on Mt. Evans, where I have marvelled at it along with the rest of the alpines. Never occurred to me to eat it. Now I am very curious, but would limit my gustatorial impulses to plants from lower and less fragile habitats. Sagebrush bluebells grows in western mountains at all altitudes in CA, CO, ID, MT, ND, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA, and WY. Mt. Evans National Park, Clear Creek Co CO, 6/18/13. Borage family, Boraginaceae.
