thymeleaf sandwort, Arenaria serpyllifolia

Thymeleaf sandwort is another little weedy bit, most often turning up where soil is disturbed or depleted. The flowers are hardly a quarter inch across. The plants get only about six inches high. There's just not much to them. That made it a bit surprising that in some areas they have been gathered as a potherb. This Eurasian sandwort has been reported from every state and province except AK, AZ, ND, LB, NF, NT, NU, and YT. They're also on SPM. Lenawee Co MI, 5/11/11. Pink family, Caryophyllaceae.
