Surinam cherry, Eugenia uniflora

OK, you're halfway through a bag of Surinam cherries, and you discover they're wormy. Would it be better to have discovered that at the beginning, or never to have noticed? I lean toward never noticing. The first half sure was tasty! Actually, that batch was a different species, but they are all uniquely crisp and tasty. Except for Surinam cherries, where some varieties are very tart and better used for jams or jellies. Surinam cherry is native to the eastern coast of tropical South America, and is now naturalized in FL and HI. Matthaei Garden, UM, 3/22/12. Myrtle family, Myrtaceae.
