white indigoberry, Randia aculeata
White indigoberry might be best appreciated in its entirety. It's a mid-size evergreen shrub with small white berries and fruit. Indigoberry makes a good accent planting if your property is sufficiently tropical. It attracts birds and pollinators. The berries are edible but not tasty. They have been used to produce blue dye or ink. The plant produces latex that has been used to stop bleeding, and the berries have been used to treat dysentery. White indigoberry is native to FL, and from Bermuda to Colombia. Miami-Dade Co FL, 3/20/16. Madder family, Rubiaceae.
