Mexican tulip poppy, Hunnemannia fumariifolia

Two visitors to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. The Center is an amazing display of native Texan wildflowers. On this day both this Mexican and I visited. Actually, this Mexican also grows in the Chihuahan desert in CA, and has been introduced to HI. So it is one of ours, if not Texan. These flowers are a couple of inches across, about the size of California poppies. And one wonders if the plant collectors were running out of names by the time they got to the California desert. Hunnemannia? Eschscholzia (CA poppy)? No Latin there! 4/17/22. Poppy family, Papaveraceae.
