West Indian meadowbeauty, Rhexia cubensis

West Indian meadowbeauty is one of several species of Rhexia that grow in our southeast. They tend to look similar to us, and presumably to the large pollinators that land on them. They land, buzz, that shakes pollen out of the curious looking anthers, and go on their way to fertilize the next plant. This species grows in AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, and SC. Dixie Co FL, 10/20/15. Melastomataceae.
