tievine, Ipomoea cordatotriloba

Ipomoea? That name is derived from ancient Greek for 'wormlike'. Seems like an unfortunate appellation for such beautiful plants. But tievine does kind of crawl around then tie things up. These vines are capable of an amazing mass of vegetation, covering whatever they can wind around. Then they bloom and the name seems wrong again. We just have to appreciate the show. Tievine grows in AL, AR, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, and TX. Polk Co FL, 10/21/15. Bindweed family, Convolvulaceae.
