threetooth ragwort, Packera tridenticulata

Threetooth ragwort is one of our western Packeras. Flora of North America describes 54 species. Of those, 41 occur only west of the Mississippi or are boreal. That pattern applies to many genera in many families. We humans are not the only ones that have trouble getting across the peaks and valleys of our western areas. That makes for delightful puzzles for botanists and amateur enthusiasts alike. Threetooth ragwort might be one of the first you meet going west. It occurs in CO, KS, ND, NE, NM, OK, SD, TX, WY, MB, NT, and SK. Summit Co CO, 6/19/13. Aster family, Asteraceae.
