This part of this morning's posting had to wait for a visit to the garden.  The appendaged waterleaf shown is a new planting, moved there to help begin a new shade garden area.  The leaves, when younger, are white spotted and attractive in themselves.  Other waterleafs (waterleaves?) are tougher more aggressive plants that spread by roots and crowd their neighbors.  The biennial appendaged waterleaf picks open spots to start another generation.
