Here's the Indiana flower, one of a slightly deeper color. When I mentioned them to Sam, he said winged monkeyflowers sound like something from Oz.

The wonders of the digital age!  You can now go on Michigan Flora and search their records for collections in the Michigan Herbarium.  That's how I discovered the dates of last collections.  And the first one, from 1838, near the site of the 2015 discovery.  It would be interesting to know the story of the 1916 collections, from three different counties, by three different collectors, all on one day.  I would guess that Cecil, Ben and Oliver were working together, and covered a lot of territory for one day in 1916.
