Reading about marsh cinquefoil, I was surprised to see it described as a shrub. Yet another way it differs from most cinquefoils. The image was from a nothern lakeshore a short distance from Lake of the Clouds and the Porcupine Hills, shown here. Nice habitat to visit!
The Eskimo used the leaves for tea. Chippewa and Ojibwa used marsh cinquefoil medicinally.
