Oh, well.  Tasteless.  That surprises me considering my experience with Indian food has been anything but.  I guess in the world of edible wild foods, tasteless isn't all bad (think skunk cabbage).  Here's a flowering stalk of lamb's-quarters.  The flowers are kind of like the taste.  These plants aren't all bad in this hemisphere.  They generally decrease production in fields where they're present.  But in the right situation, their tendency to attract leaf miners can help increase crops.  Once it arrived here, Indians found many uses for this plant as food and medicine.  Tribes mentioned range from the Cherokee to Apache.
