Here's a view of tansyaster habitat. It's a common plant throughout the west. The southwestern tribes often used it for medicine. I imagine the amazing Anasazi of Mesa Verde used it in the same ways. I have found no references, but would expect these seeds to show up in excavations.
Long ago, as I traveled west, and saw the wonders of the Rockies, then headed for the canyons, Mesa Verde didn't seem important to stop at. I would have been wrong. It's now one of our favorite stops.
