Here's a shot of a patch of hairgrass. You can see how it is so successful, waving its flowers in the wind to be pollinated. Fortunately, it's one grass species that I don't seem to be very allergic to. Because of the allergy, I began learning to identify grass species very early on. Look out for orchard grass! But sadly, I'm still not real good at it. Tepals, lemmas, paleas, why can't I keep them all straight? Maybe I'm mentally allergic too. As a child, I began a loooong series of shots to cure this allergy. But then the perfect cure came along - a move to the desert. And the desert had no shots. Now that I'm back in the grass, achoo!
