Mountain-mints are another plant that rewards a close look. The tiny flowers don't show off much for humans. We don't pollinate them. All those tiny purple dots must do something for the bugs. Mountain-mints are closely related to true mints and bergamots. They're aromatic, and have been used for flavoring and medicine. The genus was often used by Indians, though I have found no specific mention of this species.
