Wiki says Riddell's goldenrod can have as many as 450 flower heads.  Each of those can have nine ray flowers and ten disk flowers.  That's a total of 8600!  On one stem!  Believe it or not, that's about average for a goldenrod.  But it sure gets the job done.  That can also be 8600 seeds, each with their little ball of fuzz.  8600 miniature dandelion seeds blowing around.  We won't even speculate on how many that can be in a place like Ives Fen.  It makes it clear why fall is so golden.

Cancelled!  Up early to take the grand kids to school.  Now they'll be here all day!  Mother nature does it again!  Yeah!
