Shrubby cinquefoil has not found much use outside fens and gardens.  It seems to have most of the required features to become a medicinal plant, remembering that actually curing anything is not a criteria.  But only the Tanana tribe used it, and the only use was to lessen menstruation.  The Blackfoot mixed it in dried meat as a deodorant.  We're lucky we've got refrigerators!  And remember when we Boy Scouts were taught to start fires with friction?  The bark of shrubby cinquefoil makes excellent tinder.  But aren't we lucky we've got lighters too.
