I was truely lucky the day I shot these shamrock images. Maybe because I wasn't far from where I found the end of the rainbow? I was walking up a hill along a two-track, and saw a nice patch of black medick. I hadn't been happy with my images of that plant, so I stopped and shot some more. Down on my belly with my nose practically in the flowers, I was paying more attention to the photography than the flowers. The results were my best images of little hop clover. It wasn't until I got home, downloaded the data, and looked at a larger view on the computer that I saw the folds of the petals. Those lengthwise folds are typical of the hop clovers.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! And save the snakes!
