This species of Ribes is much more appealing. So much so that one cannot help but grab a couple and pop them into your mouth. Mistake! Skunk currant, Ribes glandulosum, earns its name. I guess I did carry the seeds away from the parent. But not very far. What is the competitive advantage if the unappealing or even yucky flowers and fruit in today's two plants? I don't know the answer, but perversely, the mystery is kind of appealing.
