Why have state flowers?  Do we do it just to celebrate their beauty?  Or is it our innate competiveness?  My flower is more special than yours!  Or for commercial reasons?  That might explain the apples and peaches.  Or to call attention to them and help protect them?  Like with Kirtland's warbler.  Probably the answer is all of the above.  In any case, tomorrow will be Delaware.  That's because AZ is the seguaro cactus, which is not available.  And AR(apple), CA (CA poppy), CO(CO blue columbine), and CT(mountain laurel) have all been posted here before.  At that rate, this could go much too quickly.  Here we'll revisit mountain laurel, because Connecticut made such an excellent choice.
